All aboard

Wooooo woooo. Family day out! When these are planned well and we are prepared even a small disaster can be sorted out with ease.

We always promised the boys we'd take them on a train, this ones nice because its cheaper than the other train, doesn't go as far, is scenic and only 40 minutes from the city.

We all got ready, i packed the picnic, the kids bags with spare changes of clothes, extra jumpers and jackets, my bag had first aid kit, pain relief, energy drink for hubby, gaviscon for me (thankyou baby for feeling the need to kick my organs around) an umbrella and a number of other things. Lets just say i packed for ANYTHING that might happen... except i made one mistake.

We got there after driving for 40 minutes, i went and got in line for tickets and at the counter they had a sign, now usually shops have a sign of all the cards they accept right? well when i got to the counter they had a sign alright, of all types of cards with a tiny little label in the corner saying"we do no accept these cards" whaaatttttt!! Nooooooo!! Thats stupid. I went out and quietly told my hubby that they didn't accept credit and i hadn't got cash out. Crap. Now what do we do? We tried to log on to internet banking but unfortunately being pretty much in the middle of nowhere we had no wifi, no 3g coverage. So we had to leave.

The train was leaving in ten minutes the closest atm machine was 20 minutes away. We explained to Marley that we would have to come back for the next train at 2 pm. He was good about it he accepted there was a change in plans and hopped back in the car, Kanye on the other hand doesn't understand things like this, so he lost it and cried and had a meltdown, we all managed to stay calm for him and after we got to the atm and got our cash we decided to go have our picnic somewhere nice and try turn the day around.
We had planned to jump on the train and once we got the other station have a picnic and hop back on the train back to the starting station and head home.

We found a cute wee beach not to far away. It was pretty windy but we sat and had our picnic. Then the boys and hubby headed down to the stony beach and threw stones in the water and found a tyre swing to play on.

We jumped back in the car and headed back to the train station, got our tickets and hopped on the train. My boys squealed with excitement. It was really nice, there weren't a lot of people, the day was warm so we sat in an open carriage. Choo choo we were off.

We all had a great time and a great day.

After the train trip we headed home, luckily i had put dinner in my slow cooker before we left this morning so we ate straight away.

We put boys to bed, they were so tired.

Awesome family day out!
