Art Challenge in progress
J's PA has been helping her with some screen printing - which in practice means that J plans her design, perhaps with a bit of discussion and following some online browsing and collection of ideas on Pinterest. Then M supports her hand over hand to draw the design. After that, M has to cut out the stencils and squeegee the ink through the screen. This means it's less hands-on than some of J's creative activities, which is probably why the small (A4) screen printing kit she was given many years ago has had little use. Her July art challenge is to design a movie poster in any medium, and she wanted to create something bright, simple and graphic. This is the first layer of colour - the next challenge is to position the second and third stencils precisely enough for the intended result. No prizes for guessing what the movie is.
For me, it was a day of chores, mostly in the house as it turned wetter than forecast by late morning. It was also a day of computer frustrations, particularly for J, who was notified of two nasty Trojans trying to invade her desktop, and for P, who dealt with it, as he always does. It now seems ok, but it meant she couldn't use it all day, as the final full scan took many hours.
