Prof Ron

So, we survived yesterday’s deluge... It was more than a little challenging; the weather was - as is currently in vogue - extreme, and it couldn't have happened on a worse day - arrival and set up day. A few people slept overnight in the workshop tents and at least one happy camper was busy this morning at the local launderette, tumble drying their sleeping bags and clothes... But we survived, and laughed.

Today was the first full day, and the main speaker was Professor Ronald Hutton from Bristol Universtity - one of the finest experts in ancient British history - who brought us up to date with some of the more recent (but ever changing) discoveries and hypotheses from Stonehenge. This because the bluestones from Stonehenge were quarried only a few miles from where we are camped. And later in the week, a field trip!

He's rather red in the bright red and yellow marquee, and in a climate now being called global boiling perhaps he looks a tad warm. Other fun and games included dance, ritual and a herbalists wander in the field margins and woodland, to find various plants and fungi and discuss some of their uses and misuses... (Karen from the Seed Sisters in the extra, in her lovely Airstream)

I'll catch up on all your kind comments when I get home, but hey we didn't drown.
