long eared bat

Joanna and I spotted this dead bat in the garden yesterday. It's amazing to see a bat up close and look at those ears! Long eared bats hunt for moths at night using hearing rather than echolocation. I'm not sure why this one died, we have plenty of bats flying around our house at dusk (plenty of moths, too!)
