Hippo, Okavango River

Our first hippo sighting during a boat trip along the Okavango this afternoon. There were 16 in the water but they kept disappearing under the water then reappearing again. It was amazing to watch them. We were also woken up by two hippos at 4.45 this morning on the river bank in front of the tent. They were out of the water and eating grass, very noisily, and we were able to look down on them as our tent is on top of the car roof. They stayed for about 15 mins then launched back into the water again.

This morning we drove to Popa Falls expecting to be able to walk around them but it was a very short walk. The boat ride that we took later on took us to islands close to the falls so we got a better view. The trip also included bird watching and we saw a couple of crocodiles (see extra) and drinks/snacks at sunset. Every night we have seen incredible sunsets.

We also tried to buy some gas for cooking at Popa Falls this morning as ours had run out but there was none for sale, however, the campsite manager managed to refill our bottle.
