Meadow Things
Quite cold with a wind, only about +17. Both clouds and sun, no rain.
Very busy, once again, the whole day.
In the allotment I had the meeting with another gardener from the area with an experienced meadow enthusiast and bumblebee breeder. We two gardeners are now in charge of the areas in the allotment that were cared as meadows in the past. Our task is to find out what should be done with the spots now when no one has cared for them.
In the picture is a small area by our own garden in the area that I and Mr S have cared for all the time we've had the plot. In some point we slowly began to make it a some kind of meadow, despite the shadowness of it as locating in the edge of the forest. There's been problems to care for it, for some gardeners and some construction workers have kept is as a spot of parking now and then. Finally now I worked it out with the board of our allotment association.
A part of the spot in the picture is lush and there grows much grass to take off all the time. Still I have succeeded to get also some flowers surviving there, in addition to clover, yarrow and lady's mantle. The "meadow man" told that one possibility would be to grow only white and red clowers to lure much bumblebees. I know it also would look beautiful. I just let it grow like this for now and see how it is going next summer.
In the Extra there are flower buds of our garlic chives (Allium tuberosum). The light balls in the back are marigolds.
