Colours
I assume this is a young Blue Tit (although it could possibly be a young Great Tit, it just seems to have the stance and shape of a Blue Tit). A recently fledged Blue Tit has yellow cheeks, which in adults are white . It is thought that this could be to do with camouflage, white being more like to stand out when hiding amongst leaves. Other markings and colours are not as strong as they will be later. The young undergo a post-juvenile moult within weeks of leaving the nest. We are over-run with sparrows, so it is nice to see these.
