Spot the...

...butterfly (a meadow brown, I think).

After more - and final - financial wrangling we drove to Musselburgh for a refreshing walk on the beach, along to the river to see the swans and then back on the path.

I have very few photos, just this meadow brown; the grasshopper was too jumpy for the phone.

We met a man collecting white feathers for artistic purposes and it brought to mind the warnings about victims of avian 'flu. He assured us that he sterilises the feathers but I still stopped short when seeing the extra - a harmless piece of driftwood, as it turned out!
