Gooseberry Harvest

Panic! I saw a blackbird trapped in the fruit cage - how it got in I have no idea - so we dashed out to fold back about a third of the netting to allow its escape. I had the camera poised and a Blip title all ready in my head (the Strawberry Gooseberry Thief, since you ask) but we couldn't even see the bird, let alone take its portrait.

Leaving the apparatus open during lunch we still saw no activity; however, the forecast for rain decided us that it had probably made its way out and we should simply pick the crop before it spoiled. Actually it did rain but we carried on and this is the result, weighing in at nearly 7kg.

Adding in the quantity already picked we reckon this season has given us about 10kg. that's a lot to top-and-tail... .
