Umbrella Repair

The cord that opens our patio umbrella snapped the other day. What I thought would be a relatively easy repair, turned into a three-time-visit to the hardware store, six-hour exercise in perseverance. The cord I eventually purchased on Amazon (after my third trip tying to buy it locally) was ever so slightly thicker than the one that broke. This additional thickness caused all kinds of threading issues as I attempted to replace it in a very complex process that had my disassembling the umbrella to get at the spots I needed to fish the cord through.
