Another scorcher!
No excuse not to use the cross trainer today, now that I have working headphones. I set up Only Connect (you can play some of the games on the website - it's fiendishly difficult) on the iPad, and set to for a half hour of torture, which only used up 134 calories. Is it worth it? The only thing that happens is that my face is bright red for about an hour, so it's preferable not to venture out and startle anyone.
Another scorcher. Well, sleeves were rolled up when out of the cool breeze. But near enough to call it a scorcher in these parts. I ascertained if Uncle A wanted to take a whirl out to the beach, but no, he was busy.
Flow Chart:
Water/Park? Water.
Sea/Pond? Pond.
Blackford/Figgate? Blackford.
Walk/Bus? Bus.
I took my Kindle, thinking it would be nice to sit and read and now and again watch the goings on. The five cygnets are bigger, sticking their bums up in the air like their parents taught them. It was idyllic, all sunshine and calm and toddlers with people feeding the birds, and old folk out for a dander.
All of a sudden Mr Swan started flapping and took off just over the water back up to the other end of the pond! Of course - where I had just been!! What a shot that would have been.
What had rattled his cage from so far away? I could see him stomping around, wings out, head down and walking quickly after the wee lone greylag goose, who had been minding its own business, as far as I could see.
After a while he gave up and joined his family on the grass. The wee greylag didn't go far away, lying in the grass under the trees. Was he teasing Mr Swan? Mr Swan could not settle. He was still agitated by its presence. I could see that he was still thinking about climbing over the wee railing and giving chase again. I hung around.
Eventually, yes, he start the chase again. Round and round he stomped, the greylag tripping lightly ahead, round benches, under trees. Toddlers and parents scattering in all directions. At one point the greylag was heading away along the path, Mr Swan in hot pursuit, with me following along, when suddenly the greylag turned round and ran back in my direction. I have a blurry shot of greylag running towards me, wings outstretched, beak wide, with Mr Swan's big feet at the top of the shot - I was moving out of the way fast! Another great photo opportunity missed!
Anyway, today's shot is a not very good one of the chase, but it shows the menacing Mr Swan. They kept going in and out of bright sunshine. Most inconsiderate of them.
Did I read my Kindle? Did I'eckaslike!
