crystal clear waters of lake kournas

The lake called us back - who could resist that turquoise loveliness? The children knew exactly what they wanted to do and marched straight to the taverna for smoothies on the veranda where they eyed up all of the pedalos on the lake to decide which one they wanted to try and obtain. I won’t lie - this stressed me out no end, imagining they’d make us wait for an hour to get their preferred pedalo. But when the time came, they forgot all about their musings and just wanted whichever one was closest to them. Ha! Isaac proved himself to be a terrific daredevil on the slide, hurtling straight down head-first, barely giving us enough notice to stop. Eve was also very at home in the water and was delighted to find out the lake is rumoured to be bottomless. Zeke, normally the most fearless, would only slide in to the turquoise bits because he was slightly worried monsters may lurk in a bottomless lake. And he also wondered if turtles bite.

We also fitted in a spot of snorkelling at Spilies beach which was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never successfully snorkelled before - possibly because I couldn’t actually swim until recently. It was such a nice place to do it too!
