Make a joyful noise

Since Sunday, Istanbulus - and maybe Turks generally - have been making a racket at 9pm every evening to show their support for the protesters. Some honk horns, some flash apartment lights, and many, many hang out their windows or walk around their neighbourhoods banging a pot with a spoon. That, my friends, is charming. Friend Merril enticed me out last night to join in the clamour. We could hear people nearby and across the Bosphorus making a noise to show they care. I'm glad I went.
