A Mixed Day

It was the first day of the Scottish Six Days today in Lossie Forest.  The walks to the start were long and the courses physically and technically tough.  Euan's White course was 2.7k (after a 2.7k walk to the start!) and had far too many controls, several difficult. Sometimes I think planners don't know what to do with the children's courses.  Dad Rob wisely took a short cut and they retired.

I gradually got slower and slower towards the middle/end of my course and one control in particular sent me headless chickening which makes for an interesting Strava trace.

Becky, Rob and Euan left to find a café and playground and we caught up with them in Elgin for a very late lunch.  The A96 was still closed following the, sadly fatal RTA, so we took a longer, southern road through pretty countryside to Forres where Euan enjoyed the playground for a while, then it was back to Findhorn.  Whilst we had baths and prepared the roast chicken dinner, Euan and his Mum and Dad went to the beach.

We have late starts tomorrow and the event is closer at Darnaway so we may just have mid morning cuppas at the Bakehouse here in Findhorn.
