Jazziness
OMG a big day We have been hurtling around West Cork selling our wares and it has been extraordinary. Bantry, Bandon and Clonakilty have been visited with stacks of books. Bantry bookshop had already sold all its first order and one customer had got very grumpy when she found there were none left; Clonakilty had a waiting list (and by the time we got home has ordered another 10) and Bandon gaily took 10 pondering why anyone would want tor read about holy wells. At home, I discovered Macroom bookshop, visited on Saturday, has also sold their first order and wants more! The response has been wonderful - our heads and hearts are a bit larger than they were as we've been hugged and photographed and generally lauded. I'm sure there will be someone to rain on our parade sooner or later but at the moment we're glowing.
Who could resist this jazziness in Clonakilty - not me. And I went into the old fashioned sweetie shop and bought some licorice - yum! Himself ventured into Sea Salt and bought a jacket and we both enjoyed Clonakilty ice creams. M, we were on the look out for you!
Last night's concert was wonderful. A young woman Uillean piper opened proceedings and not only managed to wrestle with the pipes and produce magic out of them but also managed to sing beautifully. Then three lads took to the stage and were fantastic - a fiddle, accordion and guitar romped through an impressive set. Bats were flying overhead in the candlelight and Jeremy Irons was in the front row.
