Identity
A very wet day.
We decided on a trip this afternoon, so travelled to Liverpool and its Anglican cathedral. Unlike most cathedrals we were able to park near the entrance, and so J decided she would try and use her stick to get around and was OK.
A massive sculpture has been erected at one end of the cathedral,. By sculptor Peter Walker it is called “Identity - we are all together”, and features seven tall pillars, each of which includes strips of light replicating the double helix of the structure of DNA. The colours change all the time, reflecting the seven colours of the rainbow. The whole thing is really effective.
It was a good way to spend a rainy afternoon. Definitely out of J’s comfort zone, but the building is big and lofty so she felt fine.
I couldn’t convert any of the shots of the columns I took to monochrome - colour is after all part of the point of the sculpture. But I have included a back-lit alternative looking the other way as an extra, so am tagging this for that. Thanks to Nickimags888 for hosting.
