The High Coast Distillery
The High Coast Distillery proudly anounces its position at 63°N. It produces a range of single malt whisky and I'm fairly sure it's further north than anywhere in Scotland. The brick building (and chimney) was originally built to provide electricity to the timber works on a nearby island but that all closed down many years ago.
This summer they are offering glamping and campervan parking for people wishing to eat in the restaurant and then stay over. It's in a very beautiful place, right next to the river and is always worth a visit when we are in the area.
This time we were there because there's a flea market in the last house in the village and our visitors and Jan all love a good fleamarket. That's not really my thing so I had a quick look and then retreated to a picnic table in the shade to wait for them, to enjoy this view, and to take this picture!
