Breaking ground
Started the day walking down to town in the rain (again!) for a Board meeting. Good to be able to see the progress on site behind the boardroom…..strengthening the basement area so the big delivery trucks bringing concert equipment will be able to drive safely across this area once the hall is built (behind the building on the right).
Had a bit of a wander around the shops afterwards then walked back home and had some lunch before some admin and a couple of calls. Good to catch up with VickyG after her Swallows and Amazons style holiday.
In the evening it was book group at hazelh’s. We’d read ‘The Woman in the Purple Skirt’ by Natsuko Imamura and had some mixed views…I wasn’t very keen, mainly because of the brooding sense of menace throughout it, but some liked the spare Japanese style. Hazelh had gone to some considerable trouble to theme the whole evening purple, with clothes, table setting, cocktail, and all the food! (See Winsford and LauraMuir’s blips for details). Managed to make the food tasty as well as colour themed, so it was a lovely evening with all the usual lively chat despite missing Arclight and E.
