Out to grass
The weather this year has been really good for ornamental grasses. Too good, in fact. I suspected the garden man had planted too many but last year they worked well. This year, they have taken over. Something had to be done.
Today we lifted about 15 of them and they are now filling the brown bin. The garden looks a whole lot better for their removal; they were covering and choking some of the other plants and with the recent wind and rain they had been battered down and looked a mess. They haven't all gone; we've left several of them that still look right where they are.
There are now a few spaces that need to be filled but not as many as you might imagine as the other plants have room to breathe. I won't rush into filling the gaps; there's plenty of time to think about what would work well.
