NO, IT'S NOT A DAGGER THAT I SEE BEFORE ME*

*I refer to my blip of a couple of weeks ago, when someone told me they'd seen a Dagger moth caterpillar on this tree and I then made assumptions about the larvae I'd found. In fact this wriggly cluster is of Buff Tip moth caterpillars. On my way to finding this out I'd been looking up Grey Dagger and Dark Dagger moths and had my mind slightly boggled by the information that the surest way to tell them apart is by examining their genitalia. I'm not sure my eyesight is sufficiently acute for that.
