A rare sight!

Had to have a word with myself today... sitting first in line at a red light for 2 minutes, is NOT a traffic jam!

The quickest indicator of going native in Orkney is complaining that it rush hour traffic lasts more than 10 minutes. There are no permanent traffic lights, they only appear at roadworks. At which point Radio Orkney broadcasts traffic warnings to avoid the area just in case you might actually take 2.7 seconds longer to get to your destination.

The other car related symptom is when you no longer think it is weird to stop in the middle of the road and have a conversation with the driver of an oncoming car. If a third car appears, well they'll just have to wait or join in the gab.
