Festival!

The day was bright and breezy if a bit fresh and the bunting was out and looking colourful. We started off by going to the stone circle  to hear Prof Billy O Brien describe the recent excavations. If you remember we were a bit horrified but he spoke well and it had obviously all be done with care and expertise. No modern tools were used and everything was put back where there was evidence for it originally having been. No human remains were found, only some charcoal but most interestingly, in my opinion, a pile of buried white quartz was found and a a sunken pit - could this be the cist in Ahakista ie a burial pit? We came away more content than we had been,
We then went on to the Heron Gallery for lunch with Robert and Finola followed by a look around Lisa's very attractive photographic exhibition of moths and butterfly images. Small children were running amok doing the treasure hunt.
Everywhere is rammed!  Tomorrow is the water sports and bowling. Weather not looking to bad either.
