Living my dream

A salutary tail

-3C outside. Bean needed every bit of curled up comfort she could get. Apparently her nose was chilly.

I heard from my friend A this morning that her husband J went luging yesterday in Central Otago. He is 72 and has impaired vision. I don’t know which part of his brain thought it was a sensible idea, but it was never going to end well.

A’s sister and brother-in-law are here from WA, and they were introducing them to snow, to snow sports…and as it turned out to the rescue helicopter too.

J has broken his tib and fib: a compound fracture to boot. He’s had surgery and will be in hospital for a while until they’re sure there are no complications.

Meanwhile the others are continuing their trip to Central and Wanaka. They’ve said they’ll take detour to Dunedin on their way home, to see how “The Idiot” is.

It’s going to be a long convalescence, which is likely to be trying for all concerned.
