IT'S LIDDINGTON HILL - SO WE MUST BE NEARLY HOME!
I decided not to go to Church this morning as I felt that being with a lot of people with my impending surgery due in just over a week wouldn’t be a good idea; however, I did watch the service from home and although it wasn’t quite the same I enjoyed it and the sermon was “spot on” for me today - so thank you, Colin.
This afternoon we went out to see friends and after showing their 3 year old the Silly Saturday Gang and making up stories about them, we had afternoon tea with them. Of course, there was the usual controversy about whether it should be jam on the scone first or cream - our hosts put their cream on first, but we did ours the proper way! Mr. HCB was intrigued with their robot lawn mower. However, I told him we don’t need one as we don’t cut our grass from May until September and then it needs strimming well before it’s cut.
Coming home we were glad that the sun was shining as we drove under Liddington Hill - my photograph for today - a lovely landmark which always tells us we are almost home when we have been on a journey and a place of solace for many who scatter their loved one’s ashes here. It’s just a shame that the crop in the field below has already been harvested.
This was the Bible text for today’s sermon:
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind
come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.
For you know that when your faith is tested,
your endurance has a chance to grow.
So let it grow, for when your endurance
is fully developed, you will be perfect
and complete, needing nothing.”
James 1 : 2-4 New Living Translation
