The maidenhair fern in late afternoon light

As I walked up stairs I noticed the seed spores of the maidenhair fern caught in the late afternoon shadowy light. A few minutes later I returned with a camera.

For a short time in the summer and early autumn late in the afternoon the sun shines from the west through this and other windows. Seemingly without any notice this effect gradually disappears, and then winter is on its way.
