All systems go....

Another busy one.
After I'd been round all the cows, came back in ,hitched the trailer to the land rover and loaded up a cow and calf that's not getting bulled again as she's no front teeth left and is 10 years old. Ran them out to the ' scrap' field to join the rest.
Back home ,collected the terrier and Littlemiss and headed next door for a couple of cull cows that are going to the mart. Loaded them up and we set off for St. Boswells.
Was just turning off the A68 into Boswells when we spotted a car and trailer on the verge with and old dear holding onto a ewe. So pulled in and went to give her a hand. Seemingly the trailer door hadn't been shut properly and this one had escaped,so lifted it back into the trailer for her and made sure the door was shut this time !
Emptied the cattle, washed out the trailer then we headed to the canteen for breakfast. A proper fry up for £8 quid, far better than the overpriced one we had in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago !
Back home and headed down the road to feed the heifers and meet my combine contractor to look the winter barley. He hopes to finish his own today and hopefully cut some of mine tomorrow before heading home to cut his rape. The best laid plans.....
The next door farm started cutting their winter barley again tonight ,10 days after we last turned a wheel. So headed down to bale some of the straw. Still a bit damp, but hopefully it won't heat. Had to stop about 9.30 as the sun went down and the dampness came down.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow......
