Our pet fish

Not an exciting day with few photo opportunities. Other things to do on a grey, drizzly day with cloud blowing in from the North Sea to the East of us.
These are a some of our pet fish in the pond I constructed at the foot of the garden. We have eleven fish of several varieties of carp (commonly referred to generically as goldfish). The eleven are mostly small and new this year. They know me and come to be fed every morning at breakfast time. I am reliably informed that fish can earn to recognise a human voice.
We had some beautiful larger ones but last autumn seven disappeared and we reckon a visiting grey heron helped himself. Hence the protective net you can see now (belatedly) over the water to deter would be predators of malicious intent. Some of life's lessons are learned the hard way - are they not?
