Is the water cold?

Is this Blackheaded Gull contemplating fishing, a full bath, going for a swim, or just a quick dip of the toes?

Location: Banchory, Deeside, Scotland.
Plan: to get a good photograph of the Falls of Feugh.

Wrong lenses brought: the everyday short telephoto is too long for the river (should have brought the 10-22mm wide angle for the full width of the river), and too short for the bird (needed the 70-200mm).
