Remembering London firefighters

Not much on today apart from an appointment with the dental hygienist at Farnham. So, here's another photo from yesterday of the statue commemorating firefighters who lost their lives when on duty during the blitz and other attacks on London in the Second World War. My Uncle Bill was in the London fire brigade during the war and thankfully survived. My mother was a GPO telephonist and also acted as a firewatcher, looking out for where incendiary bombs were falling. The statue is just across the road from St Paul's Cathedral at the entrance to the Millennium Bridge (the one that wobbled when it first opened). It's a perfect location,  as a photo of St Paul's emerging from the smoke and fires of the blitz was one of the iconic images of wartime London.
