A cold but enjoyable walk
We pottered around inside this morning knowing that it was very cold outside despite the blue sky and sunshine. We watched lots of little birds in the rhododendron bushes and a Tui in the Kowhai tree just outside our dining room windows. It’s lovely being able to watch them at such close quarters. Eventually we went out for some fresh air and decided to explore the streets around where we live. We chatted with two people along the way. One of them was a most interesting gentleman who took us into his garage to show us the metre for the solar panels on his roof. Inside the very large garage underneath his house were several vintage cars in pristine condition - a most unexpected find. He knows a gentleman we met at Rotary last night who also has vintage cars and has offered to take MrMacD for a ride (me too, I hope!). We also exchanged pleasantries with several people as we walked.
This afternoon we took all the cardboard, soft plastic, cans, bottles, rubbish (from unpacking and deliveries), and a heater that has ceased to work and can’t be repaired to the Waitaki Resource Recovery Park. The rest of the packing materials will be collected on Monday and then the garage will be relatively clear and we can start work on refurbishing the pieces we’ve purchased from the Waitaki Trading Post.
The two murals were on a building not very far from our house and the snow-covered mountains could be seen as we walked back towards home. Such a wonderful sight.
