Visitors and a Zoom meeting
This morning was taken up with baking bread (MrMacD), whizzing the soup we made last night and adding more liquid so it was more soup-like and less like a purée (me), then tasting and deciding to add some lemon juice (both of us). A load of washing was done but hung on the drying rack and hidden in our bedroom until after our lunch visitors had departed. MrMacD designed and sent two birthday cards to friends in the UK via Moonpig; and also found time to wax the legs of the dining table. The top will get more wax tomorrow. We had a Zoom meeting at 11:30 and welcomed our lovely Blip friend Mima and her delightful dog Bean for lunch shortly after midday. Homemade soup and homemade bread were on the menu, topped off most deliciously by homemade Lemon Drizzle Cake courtesy of Mima. Bean contributed by hurtling into the garden after a visiting cat, hopefully ensuring it doesn’t return. Sorry cat lovers, but we have dozens of lovely little birds and Tuis in the garden and we want them to stay here because they’re such a delight to watch.
The afternoon was spent gathering together information for our tax returns, with which we made good progress. Then we went along to a meeting of the Oamaru Rotary Club to see what it was like and also in the hope of meeting some new people. The meeting was good, the speaker interesting and the people friendly, so we’ll probably go back. It was good to get home to the warm and relax for a couple of hours.
I tried the muesli/granola concoction this morning and decided that some refinement is required when making another batch.
Don’t be deceived by the blue sky and still water, it was very cold down by Oamaru Harbour at 5:30pm this evening.
