The accidental finding

Stratford Park Cygnets

I know, they're not sharp, but I still liked this picture, because of the water and the framing. There are four cygnets, that's all I've seen this year on the pond, and they still hang out close to their parents. I walked by the pond at the edge of the park, as I did last night, this time to get the bus to Cheltenham to meet a friend, Dave.

Once there, we did a tiny bit of shopping, and then unfortunately witnessed an accident where a woman was struck by a car. Though by the accounts of those who actually saw, as opposed to hear, the impact, she stepped in front of it. We waited till the ambulance and associated vehicle had come and gone, and the police had done the same (after about half an hour, when three cop cars turned up at once with their sirens blaring) and the parked cars that were trying to leave had left the scene, but not before the police had seen the 'evidence' on one of the cars, and so on...

By this time, it was a hot afternoon, and we needed a drink. And then we needed another one. And then we needed a very late lunch, and a coffee. Later, I walked back from Stroud along the canal once again. The evening was balmy, and a young man had launched a canoe in the new basin. His friends were watching him, and dive bombing off the new "hill" straight into the canal, fully clothed. Families, dog walkers, and birdwatchers were out in force. I must have been a bit p*ssed still after my two glasses of wine, for I ended up taking an impossible route that landed me on the wrong side of the canal! There are some bits that don't entirely join up yet. I mean on the canal route, not me...

Got home, and CleanSteve was still in the pub with his mate! Decided to walk up and join them for a half of cider, but they were just leaving :( This has been one of the most pleasant evenings of the year, and tomorrow is Thursday, already!

PS. This is a fake sunset.
