Trials
The sun was shining, the sun cream was on, and it was only 8.30 in the morning!! Today was a stunner and the men's elite Trials semifinals were happening all day from around 9am to 6pm. I was on the early shift and back in the info tent.
It seems trials doesn't have quite the same pull as the BMX and the Green was a lot quieter today despite the beautiful weather. The events are certainly a lot longer, and due to multiple athletes on the go across five courses, you don't get the same excitement from the commentary . However, the skills of the atheletes are no less awe-inspiring and it's been super entertaining to watch.
Not much interaction with the public today, mainly due to it being very quiet, but plenty of photo opportunities. Highlight was P coming down to join me after my shift and we spent the afternoon chilling out watching some bikes. Oh, and I got an extra hat by dancing in a sqaure by the volunteer check in! Should also mention chatting to the guys from the Loading Bay as I now really want a BMX - I even had a go on the pump track with the kids and super enjoyed it. Going to have to make a trip across town to have a proper go sometime.
After some bike fun we decided on a spur of the moment thing to go see Barbie at the Everyman and both rather enjoyed it, even if it was a bit on the nose! Very tired now after an early start, and a bit sad for it to be my last shift tomorrow.
