Walmer Castle

One of the things about Deal is the number of castles thereabouts, within a distance of 10 miles there are 3 of these great buildings:  Deal Castle, a low lying Tudor Artillery Castle, Walmer Castle and the mighty Dover Castle. Both Deal and Walmer Castle along with the now lost Sandown Castle were commissioned and built on the orders of Henry 8th in response to threats from the alliance of Spain, France and the pope and l can walk to either of them within 10 minutes.  Yesterday l went along to Walmer Castle to wander in the lovely gardens before we came back up to London.
