This used to be the Valhalla
Today we had a late lunch in Glebe. On the way to the bus stop afterwards we passed this lovely building which holds happy memories. It was the Valhalla Cinema from 1979 to 1999, following an interrupted history, also as a cinema. It's been a few other things since but before the National Trust had a chance to list it, its opulent interior was gutted for office space. At least the exterior is still standing, in its art deco glory.
The Valhalla was a major part of my cinematic education. In particular I enjoyed such gems as David Lynch's Dune, Eraserhead and so it continued. Been a David Lynch tragic ever since.
Have a great start to the week.
