Little pied cormorant

I woke up to the sound of rain. It was still raining in the afternoon so I put on the waterproofs and ventured to Sydney Park to hear some birds. The first I heard was a noisy miner but they were warier than usual as I think they are nesting or have babies already. Nevertheless I continued on a search for birds.

The little pied cormorant was sitting on a pole. It was a silent sentinel, looking about, stretching its head and neck horizontal, up and down.
