Loughborough Mela 2023

The day didn't start auspiciously. It was raining steadily which according to my BBC weather app, wasn't forecast. Disappointing for the Loughborough Mela which hasn't happened in the marketplace for at least three years thanks to Covid.

The Mela is an annual event organised by the local South Asian community on the second Sunday of every August celebrated with dance, song, craft and food.

We went into town and after looking around adjourned to Caffè Nero for refreshment. I only spotted the curry tent after we came out.

The rain held off and at the time of writing, the sun is beaming down out of a blue sky.

The gentlemen shown in the photo are the Rajasthan Steel Band.
