The allotment

After a period of slow growth and lots of weeds due to rain our allotment is now very productive. It looks like we grow lots of flowers but actually apart from some cosmos plants all the poppies and marigolds are self seeded which we welcome.

I went this morning and picked more beans plus went to the cafe. On Sunday mornings volunteers serve coffee and cakes which are made by some of the plot holders. Today I had delicious slice of coffee and walnut cake plus a cafetière all for £3.50.. a bargain. A similar slice of cake in a local shop is £5!
It was nice to catch up with other plot holders as there is a big area with ‘recycled’ tables and chairs outside the shed which houses the cafe.

Later I visited a friend who is also a keen gardener , she gave me some lovely yellow tomatoes, and then did some trimming at home and tidying.
