Gate Guardian

Thanks to loulou164 for hosting Mono Monday in August.
Today the theme was ‘sound’ - listen before the eye looks.
So I’d decided on a fall back - Vinnie - who you can nearly always hear before you see him!!
However the other thing that sprang to mind was either the spitfire or the hurricane airplanes that have such distinctive engine sounds you can usually hear them before you see them. We often hear them in the skies around here.
We went to Alconbury Weald for lunch today as Callum was off, and took a small detour along the main road to drive past the entrance to RAF Alconbury, not that I expected to see a spitfire or hurricane, but guess what we found.
The gate guardian in my blip. It’s a replica F-5E Tiger II used in the 80s and at the end of the Cold War. It (or a variant of it) remains in US service primarily for American allies and support on training exercises.

I expect it has a distinct sound. Not that I’d recognise it of course, but those in the know would. Anyway, it makes for a jolly good blip.

Lunch was excellent again at Bohemia. Back to work tomorrow….
