Spain is through!

We had a productive morning.  MrMacD chopped up the large pumpkin I bought last night and put it in to roast, along with the beetroot we bought at the market on Sunday.  That done, he got on with searching out some paperwork relating to a pension that he has a query about.  Meanwhile I made some yoghurt then continued with my efforts to catch up with the long-neglected computer work.  Having found the paperwork, taken photos and sent them off, MrMacD then started preparing lunch, as we had decided to have our main meal at midday.  We had a talk we wanted to go to early evening and as soon as we arrived home we wanted to watch the Sweden vs Spain semi final in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.  I cleaned up after lunch while MrMacD finished work on the mirror and actually managed to hang it in the hallway.  Job done!!

The Tuis have been entertaining us all day.  There were three of them flitting around this morning and there was obviously a touch of aggravation between them, but it was delightful to watch them.  One of them remained for the rest of the day and I managed to get three shots of him/her.

We walked into town for the talk at the Oamaru Library and on the way had to walk up a couple of hills.  We did it at a fair pace and we actually had to stop at the top to catch our breath.  We’re definitely unfit and we’ve got a lot of work to do to get our fitness back.  On the way home we had to walk across a level crossing that we’ve crossed several times and always commented that we’ve never seen a train.  Well tonight, just as we got across, we heard a whistle, the lights started flashing, the barriers came down and the train appeared.  I couldn’t resist taking a photo.

The semi final was very exciting in the second half, with the final score Spain 2 - 1 Sweden.  Spain are through to their first ever World Cup Final.
