The Last Rose

Today's image is another walk up to the station with my brother blip. It's really a companion piece to a previous blip from 03/06/2023 about some abandoned cottages that used to be part of the British Legion Village on Hermitage Lane, which forms part of our walk up to the station, less than a mile from our front door.
In my previous blip I confirmed it appeared that they weren't long for this world and that they would soon disappear under further development. Sadly that day now appears to be very close at hand as heavy wooden fences have now been constructed around most of them and I expect the bulldozers to arrive at any moment. This is the last cottage of which you can still get an unobstructed view so I just wanted to record at least part of it before it finally vanishes altogether. I wasn't sure exactly how I was going commemorate it until I saw that forlorn last rose still determined to bloom in the little garden in front of the cottage's verandah. They've been there so long that it feels like losing part of our local landscape - which of course in some sense it is.
