Long Friday lunch

It seems to have been a sunny day at home but I spent 3 hours (return trip) on the bus and time on the metro so didn’t get the benefit. However I did have a long lunch and catch up with an old Uni friend down from near Glasgow to stay with her son. I booked Long Friday on a friend’s recommendation and we shared 4 small plates, all delicious.

Trout crudo, fennel, dill, jalapeño with mescal and olive dressing
BBQd bavette steak with herb butter and bone marrow crumb
Curried pea and mint fritters with mint yogurt dressing
Squashed fir potatoes with lovage aioli
And a glass or two of Sicilian white

It was a lovely way to catch up as we’d not seen each other since her Golden Wedding party 4 years ago. I regret starting her off on the troubles of the SNP - she is partial to gossip and heresay. Safer to keep off that - though it was amusing!

Hurrah for England women’s football team. They’ve got a lot further than the men - unless you want to go back to 1966.
