DUBLIN DAY 1

The Rev’s brother and S-I-L arrived at 5:30 for our long planned trip to Dublin. Left home before 6am for Gatwick. It worked out cheaper to park and drive than taxi or risk train disruptions!!!
We weren’t looking forward to our luxury Ryanair experience but I have to say it was all very efficient…well except the 2 gate changes!!! Luckily only the next one along!!!
We dropped our luggage off at our lovely hotel and …
#took a walk through St Stephen’s Green Park…not as big as I thought. It had lots of statues and plaques about that my S-I-L had to check out …every one of possible. It became the joke of the trip!!!
#lots of laughs due to Rev’s silly behaviour!!
#The Oscar Wilde statue was from different coloured stone..fascinating.
We then walked across The Liffey and took a tour of the Jeannie Johnson ship.
We had a fabulous guide who told about its 16 journeys to Canada and America after the famine. Unlike other journeys where 70% of people often died. No one died on any of the 16 trips due to care and good rules from the crew.
#The Rev was glad to get his first Guinness within an hour of arriving in the city :)))
#a ship pose!!
# it had been a long day and we didn’t fancy going back to the hotel and then back out again for dinner so found somewhere on the way back. A tasty traditional Guinness steak pie..with another pint for The Rev.
#after checking in, unpacking and resting we went down to the hotel bar for a cheeky cocktail and cheeseboard. (Well John carried on the resting!!)
16,500 steps done!!!
