DAY 2 ~ DUBLIN
#This morning we were booked in to see the Book of Kells at Trinity Collage. I knew nothing about it before…it was fascinating. The history, artistry and the journey it’s travelled was so interesting. We spent about an hour looking at the exhibition. #Then we went to The Long Hall. The collage old library. They are in the process of removing all 200,000 books; cleaning and electronically tagging each one. They are also planning on repairing the floor. It’s going to be a 5 year project so in a month or 2s time it won’t be worth a visit.
My S-I-L has an obsession with looking for statues…
#but we all wanted to see Molly Malone…there was a busker there playing the obvious tune (. on repeat!!)
#we went to see ChristChurch cathedral…(The Rev’s choice) the audio tour was very interesting. It has a massive crypt the length of the Cathedral which used to house 4 taverns in the past :)))
#then it was off to an ice cream parlour (no idea who’s choice that was!!). The ice-cream was really delicious.
#Halfpenny Bridge over the River Liffey
#this statue was called The Hags With The Bags!!! (no comment needed.)
We are quite good at all agreeing what we each want to see. My request was a pub with Irish music.
## so we went to the Celtic Nights on the banks of The Liffey. It was €45 each…3 course food (and it was good food), a great band and very talented dancers. We all came out 3 hours later…doing an Irish jig.
We even managed to walk back to the hotel... via another statue…Phil Lynott.
nearly 18,000 steps!!
