HEADING FOR CHINA

Look what they're doing to my front lawn.  We're in the middle of street reconstruction, new water and sewer line installation.  This requires that all the old cast iron sewer pipelines be replaced with new, up to code, sewer pipes.  Gotta dig down below the foundation, a good 12 feet, to expose the old sewer lines.

Simultaneously, "Doug" is inside the house chopping holes in my basement floor around the old sewer clean-out pipe.  They were talking to each other through the hole in the wall.

Eventually, after a lot of work, the old sewer connection was made, new pipes installed, old pipes removed.  The hole was filled with coarse gravel and eventually cemented shut.  The big hole outside was backfilled although not very well.  It will eventually settle and, after completion of the curb, gutter and repaving of Barrett St., landscaping will return the "lawn" to as-it-was status or so they say.  They'll even plant grass...just in time for the snow to fly.
