Sick seagull

I noticed something blurry and white through the frosted glass of my front door and found this gull. He doesn’t look well and his head is very wet. It’s endlessly raining.

He made eye contact with me but didn’t squawk. I gave him some food but he ate a little bit and wasn’t really interested. A delivery driver approached and he hopped just a little way away but came back to my front door after the delivery. I thought I would put out a cardboard box on its side so he could use it to shelter from the rain. But he almost ran when he saw the box - maybe he’s had experience of being captured inside a box before. He’s still there - it’s been two hours now. I wanted to see if he could fly. But I would have to get him to move down a narrow path next to my car which leads directly into the road. So he could run or fly directly into the path of a car.

RSPCA are well known for putting birds to sleep without trying to help, so I won’t contact them. I’ve emailed two wildlife rescue centres who don’t offer phone contact , but haven’t heard back from them.

The weather started misty and dismal and now there’s heavy rain and I need indoor lights on. I had been going to the Tall Ships ‘Parade of Sail’ at Falmouth but it’s been cancelled due to the weather. I’ve just had to turn some heating on!
