Damaged

I hit a deer today. I was driving to town, going the speed limit of 80 kph, and I didn't see anything but a flash of brown as I hit it. There are no body shops on the island now. I went to two garages to see if anyone could help put the bumper back in place enough so I could drive safely. No luck, short staffed.  Went to a third one and the owner was working on another vehicle but came out right away to have a look, said he could do a temporary fix, and did it immediately. I was so thankful. I submitted a claim to the insurance company and we contacted body repair shops off island to make an appointment for an inspection. It's going to be some time before we can get in for the inspection then longer to have the repairs done. Luckily the vehicle is drivable and I wasn't hurt.
This is such a minor event in comparison to what so many people in the province are going through with the wildfire situation. The province is now in a state of emergency and people are being asked to stay away from places affected to keep the roads clear and accommodation available for those who are fleeing the fires or the professionals there to help. Why do people have to be asked?
A terrible situation, and we're thinking about friends who are evacuated or are on evacuation alert. No loss of life so far, thankfully. A very emotional time.
