Keeping Cool
That means moving around as little as possible!
Very early morning market to get some beautiful and excellent quality vegetables, salads and fruit. Then our day was spent on the balcony until it got too hot and then inside.
Occupations: playing with kitten, reading, watching an eye-opening documentary on Netflix concerning a pain-killer drug scandal called Oxycontin made by Purdue Pharma. It contained heroin and morphine and was highly addictive. An estimated 300.000 people have died over the past two decades from overdoses from this prescription drug.
On a happier note, my balcony was my haven for the whole morning, until the heat became unbearable. I received a tiny red spinning top when I did my supermarket errands. Honey loves it and we played for a long time with that, as you can see!
I found a very efficient cooling mat for cats which you can see on the bottom left. It seems to be much appreciated! For anyone interested, they can be found on Amazon. There are also bigger ones for dogs.
Reading the advice given to all Swiss people, on how to keep cool, there was a separate part on how to keep our animals cool: put out several containers of fresh, cool water, to encourage them to drink. Also, excellent advice on cooling down cats (who do not perspire nor pant, like dogs can). Wet a wash-cloth under cool running water, wring out, and stroke the cat on all sides, including the head, chest, tummy, legs and tail. It freshens them beautifully. The British shorthair is a race of cats with small noses and thick fur, so it is especially important for them to receive help in keeping cool.
