At the Bolt Hole

A very draughty morning when the boat struggled to get into the pier.  The wind has gradually eased.  Don't you just know it,  last night's dancing in Hoy was tremendously well supported.  There was folk there from Austria, Holland, Denmark and New Zealnd.  And, in an unprecedented move, five from Rousay.  I even attempted a dancing comeback.  I exchanged philosophical views with our Sanday correspondent.  Had an update with Christine about her planned visit to Campbeltown,  Colin and Caroline about their pending outing to Shetland.  Ewart had a lucky escape in the week, he was repairing his vehicle when it slipped and he was pinned underneath it.  He could just reach his mobile and call his son.  Initial attempts to free him failed and the coastguard was called.  CMC's nephew arrived with his tractor and levered the car up.  Ewart was taken by helicopter to Kirkwall then onward to Aberdeen.  Had an operation for a broken pelvis.  The surgeon reported that a big plus for Ewart was his overall very good condition for an 81 year old. Sadly news of Dougal is not too good.  He has another infection and is weak and dispirited.  I'll pop in past to see him on Sunday.  As ever l was on washing up duties in the Kirk kitchen.  Two nights in the bolt hole are my reward.

Bernard has written to the Editor of Who's Who to update his entry.  Our Cruden Bay correspondent constantly peruses his copy of Fa's Fa.
