FIFA Women’s World Cup Final
We decided to change our walking route this morning, so walked through the Queen’s Reserve and Oamaru Public Gardens, then down to the main street where we popped some redirected mail into a postbox and, finally, along to the Farmers’ Market. We had a coffee there, picked up some leeks and a red cabbage, half a dozen plants and some Whitestone cheese then walked back home. We covered 6.5 kms, which was great as 6 kms per day is our goal this week. After crackers and cheese for lunch MrMacD spent some time in the garden while I tidied up after lunch, ground some coffee beans, then sorted our cardboard, paper, soft plastic and rubbish into different bins ready to take to the Waitaki Resource Recovery Park. After a very overcast but warm morning the sun finally showed its face, so we we were able to sit outside on our deck in the sun for the first time and enjoy a coffee and ginger biscuit. The kowhai tree was teeming with tiny birds and Tuis drinking in the nectar from the flowers, which was so joyful to see, especially as it was accompanied by lots of birdsong. We are loving it.
We decided to swap the two mirrors that have been hung. The Art Deco mirror is now in the internal hallway and the more industrial-looking mirror is hanging over what has been designated the boot cupboard (thank you, Mima), which is equally industrial in appearance. They look perfect together.
We sat in our lounge for the first time tonight to watch the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final. It was late for us as it didn’t start until 10pm NZ time (11am UK time). It’s now just after midnight and Spain have beaten England 1-0. It was a great game but, sadly, Spain did just have the edge.
I took some photos of flowers in our garden (the yellow rhododendron and the pink rhododendron in the main blip and a deep pink camellia and the kowhai tree in the extra), on our walk (the little spiky daffodil/jonquil and the spring blossom in the main blip), and in the Oamaru Public Gardens (a swathe of daffodils and one of spring snowflakes in the main blip). The car drove past us as we walked towards the Queen’s Reserve.
